„Big Six“ kämpfen mutmaßlich um Casino-Ausschreibung in Österreich. Der Staat will Kasse machen und keine Konzessionen für mehrere Standorte vergeben. In der Folge wird das Vergabeverfahren für den mittlerweile privatgeführten teilstaatlichen Konzern Casinos Austria AG (CASAG), seit 2020 mehrheitlich in Besitz der tschechischen Sazka Group, richtungsweisend sein. Derzeit hält das Unternehmen Casino-Lizenzen für alle 12 Spielbanken und das könnte sich ab September 2027 ändern. Die Kronen Zeitung berichtet, dass in die Schlacht um die Konzessionsvergabe die wichtigsten Player des Glücksspiels im deutschsprachigen Raum in den Ring steigen. Das Interesse ist groß, denn auf dem Milliardenmarkt geht es viel Geld und Prestige!
Novomatic an Casino Baden interessiert?
Nach dem Verlust der Casino-Lizenz für Niedersachsen an Merkur Casino, einem der ertragreichsten Geschäftsfelder der CASAG, geht es am Heimatmarkt buchstäblich ums nackte Überleben. Dabei scheint aber gerade der Hauptgesellschafter Sazka aus Tschechien gar nicht abgeneigt zu sein luxuriöse Casino-Standorte zu verkaufen. Dass berichtet die Kronen Zeitund am 22. März im Ariktel „Novomatic will in Poker um Lizenzen einsteigen“.
Man geht davon aus, dass sechs große Glücksspielunternehmen um einzelne Standorte im Rahmen der Casino-Ausschreibung buhlen. Eines der internationalen Aushängeschilder fürs Glücksspiel in Österreich ist hierbei das Casino Baden unweit vom Hauptquartier der Novomatic AG in Gumpoldskirchen entfernt. Nach Recherchen der Kronen Zeitung ziehen es die tschechischen Eigentümer mutmaßlich in Erwägung, mit der Immobilie Kasse zu machen. Der Hotelkomplex, Parkgarage und Spielbank sollen dem Vernehmen nach mit zusammen etwa 70 Millionen Euro bewertet werden. Es sollen angeblich bereits Vorgespräche geführt laufen.

Neue Vergabe der Konzessionen startet bald
Neben den existierenden 12 Standorten der CASAG werden drei weitere Lizenzen ausgeschrieben, die bisher nicht vergeben wurden. In der amtlichen Übersicht für Konzessionäre des Bundes im Rahmen des Glücksspielmonopols sind diese geregelt. Nach Informationen der Tageszeitung Kronen herrscht inzwischen reger Betrieb innerhalb der Casino-Ausschreibung. Nun will sich einer der größten Gaming-Technologiekonzerne der Welt, Novomatic aus Gumpoldskirchen, möglicherweise gleich für drei weitere Standorte, neben dem Casino Baden positionieren.
Vor kurzem hatte Casinos Austria-Chef Erwin van Lambaart den Standort Velden erstmals ins Schaufenster gestellt. Seitens der Eigentümer aus Tschechien besteht die Möglichkeit, die Objekte gewinnbringend zu veräußern. Auf Anfrage von Kronen wurde das Interesse seitens Novomatic nicht bestätigt, aber auch nicht dementiert. Derzeit ist die Informationslage zum Ablauf des Bieterverfahrens noch nicht öffentlich, weshalb der Spielautomaten-Hersteller, Novoline Online Casino Anbieter und Wettveranstalter sich in Zurückhaltung übt.
In jedem Fall bringt Novomatic Erfahrung als Spielbankenbetreiber mit. Sei es die frühere Beteiligung an der CASAG oder eigene Admiral Casinos. Auch Spielbanken in Deutschland unterhält der Konzern. Teilweise auch gemeinsam mit der Merkur Group beispielsweise in Berlin. Das prestigeträchtige Casino Wiesbaden, wo sich einst Dostojewski zu seinem Werk „Der Spieler“ hat inspirieren lassen, befindet sich derzeit auch in der Konzessionsvergabe und Novomatic werden gute Karten zugeschrieben.

Wettbieten der „Big Six“ bei der Casino-Ausschreibung
So oder so: Sowohl Casinos Austria als auch Novomatic sitzen nicht alleine am Lizenztisch. Wie es scheint, sind im Gegensatz zur Situation der letzten Ausschreibung diesem Mal die Regeln anders. Eine Gesamtvergabe ist nicht angeblich mehr vorgesehen, einzelne Lizenzen nach Standort sich in Planung. Damit könnten sich die Bewerber ihre Rosinen herauspicken oder zumindest einen Fuß in den österreichischen Glücksspielmarkt kriegen.
Die Kronen Zeitung spekuliert, dass aus der Schweiz Swiss Casinos sich speziell um den überaus profitablen Casino-Standort Bregenz bemühen könnte. Ein Interesse an mehreren Genehmigungen in einem wird auf Nachfrage auch von Austrotainmen bejaht. Tatsächlich steckt der Investor Marcel Fabian gemeinsam mit dem Beratungsunternehmen Aleatrust im Hintergrund dieser Gesellschaft. Darüber hinaus gilt die Merkur Group (ehm. Gauselmann Gruppe) als interessiert.
Der deutsche Glücksspielkonzern kooperiert bereits mit Novomatic auf anderen Kanälen, ist aber auch Konkurrenz anderer Casino-Ausschreibungen. Beispielsweise konnte sich Merkur in der Westspiel-Privatisierung der Nordrhein-Westfalen Casinos gegen Novomatic und Tipico behaupten. Tipcio soll ebenfalls mit einer Konzession in Österreich liebäugeln, wo man zuletzt bereits die Wettsparte Admiral von Novomatic erworben hat. Der letzte Versuch, in das große Spiel einzusteigen, scheiterte am verlorenen Vergabeverfahren in NRW. Das Gleiche gilt für einen Zusammenschluss bestehend aus der Groupe Casino aus Frankreich und der Groupe Barriere aus Frankreich.
